Facilities at Windy Springs Farm
Windy Springs Farm offers a unique opportunity to have your horse in a quiet, country setting, without being located at the far end of everything. The special attention to detail and wide range of services provided makes WSF the place you want your horse to live!
Your horse's health and wellbeing, both mentally and physically, are foremost in our priorities. When you board your horse at WSF, you know that your investment & friend is getting the level of care you have chosen with the best possible providers available. With the owner-operators consisting of a trainer, farrier, and stable manager/instructor, at least one of them is on site so you know your horse is always in good hands. There are also many other competent horse caretakers available as well available for specialized services. An equine massage therapist is scheduled to make a visit to WSF bi-weekly and a veterinarian on call as needed.
The farm sits on approximately 28 acres of gently rolling hills and flatlands. It has a spring fed stream that runs through it and a few groups of trees. Although WSF is off a private road, it is within three miles of the interstate highway. This makes access for traveling to competitions and hunts very convenient. Here at WSF we take pride in improving our facility. Improvements are constantly being made as safety and comfort are foremost in our mind for both horse and rider.
The main entrance to the barn is large and inviting. Outside the front entrance is a separate spacious building for border's tack. Parking is available for parents, visitors and student's cars as well as an area for trailers.
A very functional barn houses 16 stalls and two overhangs. Most of the stalls are 10x14 with two at 20X14 and four at 10X8 for our pony population. Included also in the facility are four fields of turn out, two of which are for the field boarder where there is a 24X12 run in located in each field. The other turn out fields, also have run in coverage for those horses that spend most of their time in the free open spaces. There is a feed room, bedding room, and large tack room as well as hay storage. The barn also features 20 foot isle and a concrete wash area with hot and cold water.
The riding ring is an inviting 275x175 with all weather footing and a variety of jumps. More jumps are also available in the open field which adjoins the ring and is available for cross country riding, or just hacking around. Space in this field is suitable for practicing dressage as well. A round pen for training and lunging are located close to the barn for your green horse or just for exercising.
